FAQ'S

As a Christian Life Coach, asking the right questions is very important. Below you will find a compilation of the most common questions I’ve been asked about coaching. If you still have questions after reading through the FAQs, please contact me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

WHAT IS COACHING?

The International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” It is a one-on-one supportive relationship that creates a non-judgmental space to help you accomplish your goals. It might include helping you identify attitudes and values, entertain new perspectives, change behavioral patterns and  habits, acquire new skills, and identify action steps to achieve your goals!

HOW IS CHRISTIAN COACHING DIFFERENT?

While traditional life coaching is focused on attaining whatever the client wants, Christian Life Coaches help their clients exercise self-determination while being guided by the Holy Spirit. We coach from a Chrisitan worldview that we are endowed with certain gifts to be used for the mutual edification of others and that our identity is only found in Christ. So many people, like King Soloman himself, seek to gain the treasures of this world but find that those things do not ever truly fill them. When we align our hearts and minds with Christ, we experience the joy and freedom we were created for.

IS COACHING THERAPY?

Coaching is not therapy, nor is it a substitute for therapy. Coaching does not address psychological issues, focus on past hurts or trauma, diagnose, or treat mental illness. Coaching is also not the same as mentoring or advising, where a client seeks "advice" or professional opinion. Life coaching is a strength-based, forward-focused model to help the client understand their unique design, define desired outcomes, identify what  is holding them back, develop skills and behaviors to overcome those barriers and progress toward a goal. The coach uses deep listening, powerful questions, feedback and prayer to help the client reach their fullest potential. Coaches, therapists, mentors, pastors and professional advisors all fill different needs and are independent of one another.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?

The time that your coaching process will take will vary depending on the complexity of your goals, and your commitment and openness to the process. To achieve meaningful results, I recommend starting with eight to twelve sessions conducted weekly, then re-assessing with you to determine if more sessions would be beneficial. The timing and duration can be tailored to the individual and their circumstances.

IS IT CONFIDENTIAL?

Absolutely! What happens in our sessions is private. Coaching professionals are not held to the same legal standard of  confidentiality as therapists, attorneys and clergy, but any ethical coach will maintain strict confidentiality. As per ICF, "confidentiality in the coaching relationship is absolutely critical for creating the safe space for the client to succeed. " If there are other "stakeholders" involved, there will be clear communication with all parties as to what information will be shared and what will not, prior to the coaching session(s). An example of this might be if an employer is paying for an employee to receive coaching.

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO SCHEDULE A FREE CONSULTATION?

I will only collect your name and contact information at the time of scheduling. No credit card or other personal information will be taken unless you decide to hire me! The coach-client relationship is a professional partnership based on trust and communication. It is important for both parties to have the opportunity to talk, ask questions and decide if we are a good fit before we establish a formal coaching agreement. I will not use your information for marketing or sell your information to any third party. I take your privacy and confidentiality seriously. To schedule, click the Pre-Coaching Session link below. You will be able to select a time that works for you. It's that easy.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

I require a 24-hour notice prior to cancelling a session. Please be sure to contact me if you will not be able to make your scheduled appointment. I do retain the right to charge a cancellation fee if proper notice is not given.
